Almost there: one of my favourite days. In april there was Erfgoeddag and the next weekend – sunday 13/9/2015 –  it’s Open Monumentendag (Monuments open their doors). You can find the full program of which monuments are open in Flanders on this site (sorry no link anymore). I was a volunteer on this day a couple of times, but this year is the first time I organise something myself! I’m so excited, also because it’s already fully booked! I stop about talking about myself, because I want to give you some tips what you can / have to visit on that sunday. And by the way: everything is free! Here we go:

Churches

Sint Pauluskerk

You can visit the church and the Calvary (always free!) but on sunday you can visit the crypt!

12:00-18:00 – Veemarkt 14

Our Lady’s Cathedral

A monument you can’t miss.

13:00-17:00 – Groenplaats 21, entrance: Handschoenmarkt

Musea

Library Hendik Consciense, Nottebohmzaal

Not really a museum, but a library which has good exhibitions. There is now an exhibition about the 7 seas.

10:00-18:00 – Hendrik Conscienceplein 4

Stampe & Vertongen Museum

Old airplanes on an airport.

10:00-18:00 – Luchthavenlei 1 Deurne

Vlaams Tram- en autobusmuseum

Old trams en buses, only open this sunday.

10:00-18:00 – Diksmuidelaan 44

Buildings

Elzenveld

Cloister and hospital, you can visit the chapel and the former rooms of the cloister.

10:00-18:00 – Lange Gasthuisstraat 45

Hogere Zeevaartschool

Only chance to see this building on the inside!

10:00-18:00 – Noordkasteel Oost 6

Belgische Fruitbeurs = Belgian Fruit Wharf

Beautiful building which I hope has the same beauty inside.

10:00-18:00 – Zeevaartstraat 1

Kielpark tower 1

Living towers by architect Jos Smolderen.

10:00-18:00 – Kielpark 1-96
